چکیده

A cost-effective, compact, and high-performance antenna element for beamforming applications in all fifth-generation (5G) New Radio bands the [24.25–29.5] $ \,$ GHz spectrum is proposed this letter. The novel topology adopts a square patch, an edge-plated air-filled cavity, hourglass-shaped aperture-coupled feed to achieve very high efficiency over wide frequency band compact footprint ( notation="LaTeX">$\boldsymbol{{0.48} \lambda _0 \times \text{0.48}\lambda _0}$ ). Its compliance with standard printed circuit board (PCB) fabrication technology, without complex multilayer PCB stack, ensures low-cost fabrication. feedplane offers platform integration of active electronic circuitry. 28 GHz High Efficiency Planar Array Antenna with Hybrid Feed Network

Microstrip antennas and arrays have been widely used in military and commercial applications because of their ease of fabrication, low profile and low cost. In any microstrip array antenna, design of the feed network is always the most challenging task for which many different methods have been proposed. One method is to distribute the power to individual array elements by a coplanar microstrip...

24–71 GHz PCB Array for 5G/ISM

Millimeter-wave 5G mobile architectures need to consolidate disparate frequency bands into a single, multifunctional array. Existing arrays are either narrow-band, prohibitively expensive or cannot be scaled to these frequencies. In this paper, we present the first ultra-wideband millimeterwave array to operate across six 5G and ISM bands spanning 24–71 GHz. Importantly, the array is realized u...

24 GHz Active Phased Array Antenna for Microwave Sensors

Microwave sensors are robust non-contact measurement devices for industrial and vehicular application. Phased array-antenna modules, located in the front-end of the sensor, are often used to enhance the performance of this device. In this paper, a novel 24-GHz microstrip linear array antenna with beam-scanning and signal-amplification properties are presented. The phase shift section is designe...

Micromachined 60 GHz Air-filled Interdigital Bandpass Filter

A 4-pole interdigital filter has been demonstrated at 60 GHz with a bandwidth of 10 %, it is made using micromachining and a multi-layer bonding. The filter is an airfilled three-dimensional structure. It is formed of five layers which are bonded together. Each layer is micromachined SU-8 based, 200-μm thick, and finished with 1.5 μm gold coating. The resonators are thick stripline-like and enc...

Antenna Count for Massive MIMO: 1.9 GHz versus 60 GHz

If we assume line-of-sight propagation and perfect channel state information at the base station – consistent with slow moving terminals – then a direct performance comparison between single-cell Massive MIMO at PCS and mmWave frequency bands is straightforward and highly illuminating. Line-of-sight propagation is considered favorable for mmWave because of minimal attenuation, and its facilitat...
